Fluid simulation is a special section of visual effects. Despite the seeming simplicity, the simulation process has a lot of features, compared to, say, the simulation of atmospheric effects.
The liquid has a number of properties that are not inherent in other objects. And we have to reckon with density, viscosity, pressure and even surface tension. All this greatly affects the result of the calculation. And if you also take into account the different scales of simulations – from dew drops on a leaf to giant tsunamis, then it becomes clear why it is so difficult to create such things in CG.
